Our Prospecting Licenses in different parts of Tanzania include

Geita – Kahama Block

  • Aurum has 13 extremely highly prospective properties in the Geita-Kahama greenstone belt which host major gold mines like Geita, Bulyanhulu,Golden ridge and Buzwagi.
  • These Greenstone belts are known to host gold mineralization in the form of veins associated with quartz. These belts are made up of upper to mid- Nyanzian greenstone rocks that consist mainly of clastic sediments, intermediate to felsic volcanoclastic and Banded Iron Formations (BIFs). BIF is closely associated with all the known gold occurrences of economic significance.
  • Large prospective areas of the belt however are covered by lake ’Mbuga’ sediments and other regolith forms which have been unexplored.
  • In the Kahama greenstone belt, the geology is composed predominantly of mafic and felsic volcanic rocks, BIF and clast sedimentary rocks all intruded by granites, weakly metamorphosed and regionally deformed. The belt is divided into eastern and western Kahama sector. Gold mineralization occurs in all stratigraphic and lithological units with the exception of granitoids.

Musoma Mara Block

  • Aurum has another 13 licenses in the highly rich gold bearing Musoma-Mara greenstone belt which is part of the Lake Victoria Gold fields. This belt is home to mines like North Mara,Buhemba and Kiabakari.
  • Gold occurs in a variety of geological setting like in BIF, shears and as well as mafic rocks.
  • Most gold mineralization in this belt is characterized by flat and steeply dipping quartz lodes carrying pyrite, gold with minor base metals and carbonate alteration of wall rocks and are apparently related to regional faults. The association of some gold lodes with BIF units is also typical.
  • Fracturing has been the prime control for most of the deposits.
  • The rocks which host the gold deposits in Musoma district belong to the Nyanzian SuperGroup, a sequence of basic and felsic flows and tuffs with one or more well developed horizons of magnetite-facies BIF containing minor pyrite. To the north in Mara district, these rocks are succeeded by gneisses and schist which are dubiously assigned to the Nyanzian.

Other Properties

  • The remaining Aurum properties lie in Manyoni, Handeni and Chunya districts which lie in the Central and southern part of Tanzania.
  • The property in Handeni is covered by Usagaran system metamorphics whereas the one in Manyoni is made up of mesoarchean-neoarchean orthogneisses.
  • Gold mineralization in the Chunya district comes in the Lupa Gold field area. Ore deposits in Lupa gold field are hosted in Paleoproterozoic granitic and gneissic rocks.
  • Gold in Lupa gold fields is available in both lode and secondary deposits with the bulk of production coming from the secondary mineralization.
